LoopUp Co-CEOs Recognized for Entrepreneurial Success at WCIT Enterprise Awards

Michael Hughes and Steve Flavell both named finalists in prestigious entrepreneurial awards in association with techUK

LONDON, UK – June 18, 2015 – LoopUp, the stress-free conferencing solution that puts users comfortably in control, today announced that its co-CEOs, Michael Hughes and Steve Flavell, have been named finalists in the prestigious Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (WCIT) Enterprise Awards. Recognized for founding the Silicon Valley Internship Programme (SVIP), Hughes was named finalist in the Social Entrepreneur category, while Flavell was named finalist in the Mentor of the Year category, nominated directly by the judging panel.

Established to promote the IT industry, charity and education, WCIT recognizes the best of UK and Ireland’s technology entrepreneurial talent. When selecting finalists for the awards, the WCIT judging panel evaluates the applicants based on examples of vision, growth, innovation, funding use of capital, use of resources, strategy, execution, ambition and determination to succeed.

Hughes received recognition for his commitment to SVIP, which gives newly graduating software engineering students from the UK the unique experience of working with fast growing tech companies in Silicon Valley. Established by Hughes, the one-year paid internship breeds “can-do” entrepreneurial attitude into the top engineering graduates, with the goal of bolstering technology commercialization in the UK. SVIP recently announced a partnership with Girls in Tech to provide valuable opportunities to talented female engineers around the world via a one-year paid internship with SVIP participating companies, including LoopUp.

“I’m delighted about this recognition for my work with SVIP,” said Hughes. “I’m passionate about giving back to the British entrepreneurial community through my experience in the Bay Area, and SVIP enables us to influence the next-generation of innovators through a well-rounded program that delivers the epitome of real-world experience.”

Flavell received recognition for the continued success of LoopUp, which he co-founded with Hughes. With LoopUp, users are able to alleviate the pain points typically associated with conference calling. LoopUp provides a seamless, stress-free conferencing solution that enables users to create an invite, join a call and share content in a few clicks.

The awards ceremony took place Thursday June 4, 2015 at Plaisterers’ Hall, London. For a full list of winners, see the WCIT press release.
