What are the system requirements?

What are the bandwidth requirements?

  • We recommend a minimum dedicated 300kb/s down per downloaded stream, as well as 300kb/s up per
    uploaded stream to maintain a stable video connection.
  • Please see the system requirements which provides a chart of quality at given bandwidth and packet loss
    levels.

What is the video quality? Is it HD?

  • Video quality dynamically adjusts based on the strength of a user’s network connection – speed, stability (packet loss), and latency. The faster and more stable a viewer’s broadband connection, the better the video quality will be. If the connection is unstable, the video connection will be terminated.
  • Video resolutions (dependent on network connectivity):
    • 1280 x 720 (HD)
    • 640 x 480
    • 320 x 240
  • Codec: VP8 (the WebRTC standard)

What browsers will video work on?

Video is currently supported in:

  • Google Chrome (latest release version)
  • Microsoft Edge (latest release version)
  • Internet Explorer 11 (with a plugin)
  • Firefox (latest release version)
  • Safari (12+)

Does video work on mobile?

Video is currently supported on tablets:

  • Android tablets
  • iOS tablets (only Safari is supported)

Video is not supported when viewing in “mobile” mode. That is, if you can see the leg list is taking up the whole width of the screen, you won’t be able to see the right hand side where video and screen sharing are displayed. As such, tablets that are rotated into portrait mode and are viewing the mobile view won’t be able
to see or use video.

What are the network requirements?

Minimum requirements

  • Open TCP port 443
  • Whitelist the following domains:
    • *.tokbox.com
    • *.opentok.com
  • If it is not possible to whitelist domains and IP whitelisting is required, please contact support@loopup.com to get the most up to date IP addresses.

Recommended

  • Along with the minimum requirements, opening UDP Port 3478 will give you a better experience. UDP is highly recommended over TCP for better quality audio and video. The protocol favors
    timeliness over reliability which is consistent with the human perceptive preferences; where we can fill in gaps but are sensitive to time-based delays.

    • This port only accepts inbound traffic after an outbound request is sent. The connection is bidirectional but is always initiated from the corporate network/client so it is not possible for an external entity to send malicious traffic in the opposite direction. For the best possible experience, we recommend opening UDP ports 1025 – 65535.

Proxy requirements

As a general rule, using the latest browsers will produce the best results. Most proxies are supported in browsers today. If the only way to access the Internet from your network is through a proxy then it must be a transparent proxy or it must be configured in the browser for HTTPS connections.

What is the bandwidth consumption per video leg?

We are currently assessing the bandwidth consumption per leg. This will depend on image resolution and the amount of movement captured by the camera.

What is the max number of guests who can share their video? Is there a max who can view video?

Sharing video

  • Currently there is a maximum of six guests who can share their video. After there are six guests sharing their video, additional guests who try to share their video will see a message that says they cannot share because the maximum has been reached.

Viewing video

  • All guests will be able to view the live video streams. There is no maximum number of guests who can view video. The number of maximum audio legs is not affected by video.

What 3rd party vendor is used for Video?

LoopUp has partnered with Tokbox (https://tokbox.com/) a leading provider of webRTC video technology.

Is the video stream encrypted?

Video streams are encrypted using AES 128-bit encryption.

Can you record the video session?

There is no ability to record the video session at this time.
