This video from YouTube comedy sketch duo Tripp and Tyler has been doing the rounds recently, having resonated with thousands of business professionals who are regularly on conference calls. It imagines what it would look like if the experience of an everyday conference call was transposed into real life; the virtual ‘meeting room’ of the conference call replaced by a real-life boardroom. It hilariously plays out the frustrations and awkward moments that this business activity often includes, thus showing why people dislike conference calls – and inadvertently showing the reason why LoopUp exists in the first place!
Specifically on this video, you’ll see the awkward conversation between the first participants until others join, the participant who has problems joining, background noise invading the call when mute hasn’t been used, people getting disconnected, and people forgetting to unmute their line when it comes time to contribute. I can definitely also spot some multitasking on the conference call… It all makes for painfully familiar viewing if this is your experience of conference calls.
