Silicon Valley Internship Programme (SVIP) and Girls in Tech, a global non-profit that empowers women in technology and entrepreneurship, announced an exciting partnership this week. This partnership will provide valuable opportunities to talented female engineers around the world. The goal is to boost the number of women in this space and offer them encouragement to continue in their chosen career path.
SVIP was founded by Michael Hughes, Loopup’s co-CEO. It currently offers UK software engineering graduates one-year paid internships with high-growth technology companies in the Bay Area (this growing list of companies includes LoopUp). The partnership with Girls in Tech significantly expands SVIP’s reach: female tech developers from around the world – not just the UK – will be eligible for the program. Successful applicants benefit not only from the one-year paid internship, but also educational events on entrepreneurship and monthly Hackathons. All of this is with a view to nurturing the interns’ entrepreneurial skills to contribute to their local tech scene upon their return.
