Smoothing out meeting followup in No Jitter

You’ve just had a stellar meeting with your client, all agenda items ticked, forward movement was made, and all parties dispersed with actionable next steps.

So what do you do next?

Some might say not to mess with a good thing. The call went well so you can move onto your next piece of business. Everyone seemed to know what was expected and be in agreement on the next round of actions. But how can you be certain?

Often overlooked, your meeting followup can be the most crucial ingredient to keep things moving ahead toward your end goal. Handle it well and you’ll have all progress and agreements tracked and documented. Forgo it and you could find yourself in a mess of confusion with frustrated parties in every direction and spats of responsibility sloughing.

Co-CEO, Mike Hughes, recently spoke with No Jitter about the realities of good remote meeting maintenance, noting that a strong followup can be easily accomplished but is crucial to the success of your end goals.

Even with the best laid plans, meetings can quickly go awry if the host fails to “clearly record decisions or discussion points, leaving guests with only a vague recollection or understanding of goals and next steps.” But in reality, we often find ourselves running from one meeting to the next, hoping for just enough time to get prepped for what’s coming. It might feel like there’s no time for the followup in an average day.

A simple solution to this predicament? Leaning on technology to do the heavy lifting with additions such as “call-end” summary emails are one option. What are some others?
